Laser Tonsillectomy
For many patients, large tonsils contribute to socially disruptive snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Enlarged tonsils narrow the upper airway - so removing them reduces the obstruction and drastically improves the quality of their sleep.
Until now, removing the tonsils has been an invasive, painful and time-consuming undertaking. Traditionally, tonsillectomies have been performed in an operating room under general anesthetic - and have been accompanied by post-operative pain severe enough to require up to two weeks off of work for recovery.
The Snoring CenterSM is changing this picture, offering laser subtotal tonsillectomy treatments as a desirable alternative for patients with enlarged and/or chronically infected tonsils. Using a CO2 laser, the Snoring Center is able to reduce a patient's tonsils some 80%, effectively reducing or eliminating airway obstruction. Laser subtotal tonsillectomy is performed in our offices using only local anesthetic, and takes only about 30 minutes. The procedure causes minimal discomfort, and our patients are cleared to return to work the next day.
